Description:

Are you worried that your books are being “lost” in the transition to the Maker Movement? Join us as we explore how to use books as a springboard when creating and designing activities for your Makerspace. Through a focus on the 2017 Forest of Reading nominated titles as well as other selections, participants will have the opportunity to discover a variety of ways to link literacy to hands-on learning in the Library Learning Commons. We will share our ideas and provide time for you to engage in activities and collaborate with others, resulting in a ready to go resource to use in your own library. Come read, play, and learn with us!

Outcomes:
– Appreciate the value of linking literacy with Makerspaces within the Library Learning Commons,
– Explore a variety of activities and contribute to a practical resource that they can use. – – Offer encouragement to explore the books that are already in their collection with a mindset of linking to Makerspaces.
