Hard to reach populations are just that – hard to reach! But to ensure a library’s vitality, it is important engage with them and work to create committed library users who care about the library. After a reduction in hours and staffing, the Côte Saint-Luc Library reorganized, creating new departments that expanded the role of the library leadership team.

In her role as Manager of Community and Family Services, Valerie was tasked with extending the library’s reach by developing community initiatives and growing membership in certain hard to reach areas. Find out how these initiatives helped transform the children’s department into the family department and how it affected membership, commitment and perception of the library more generally.
