Description:

Our presentation will provide an overview of the design and implementation of a course integrated digital humanities project in two undergraduate English literature classes as part of the Shakespeare 400 celebrations at the University of Ottawa.

We will outline the details of the librarian-faculty collaboration and the involvement of the Community Learning Service. We will discuss the use of Omeka as the project platform as well as the learning process of the students involved in the digitization and curation of archival material for their class assignment. We will also touch on the transferable skills acquired by students through collaborative work and project management. Finally, we will reflect on the lessons learned and look ahead into the next stage of the project.

Outcomes:
The participants will learn about innovative approaches to engage faculty in the Digital humanities through classroom collaborations with librarians and to promote the library’s resources and expertise to support digital humanities initiatives.
