Description:

Each person’s life experience can take them down different paths that ultimately lead to a similar goal.

How does one become a Library Manager without a MLIS? Life skills, work experience, and knowing what courses, workshops and support are needed to shape and expand your skills, are all necessary pieces of the puzzle.

Success as a Library Manager is the willingness to learn, communicate, recognize the significance and benefit of collaboration, and use the resources available to you.

In this session, we will discuss our own experiences as library managers in an academic library environment. We will highlight some of our challenges, achievements, and tools for further developing our skills.

Outcomes:
Participants will learn about the key skill sets and aptitudes relevant to non-librarian managers in an academic setting
