Description:

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Library developed a Google Custom Search on addiction and mental health topics that includes over 203 web sites. Google Custom Search is a tool that offers a point-of-need search box for customized, topic-specific lists of sites relevant to users’ information needs. However, while the tool is free to use, a Google Custom Search needs to be continually evaluated for optimized performance. Come to this session to hear our case study on evaluating our Google Custom Search engine – including standardizing a criteria for included content, usability testing with end users, strategies used to overcome barriers, and our road map for the future.

Outcomes:
– Strategies for creating a Google Custom Search.
– Designing usability testing with end users.
– Using advanced Google search commands in your Google Custom Search.
