When the Library at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) joined the newly-restructured Education department, we sought opportunities to support their mandate to “revolutionize education and knowledge exchange.”
Specifically, we developed and executed strategies to embed our resources and services in two CAMH initiatives:
– Portico, an online knowledge exchange network for mental health and addictions professionals across Canada.
– Project ECHO Mental Health, a community of practice led by CAMH and the University of Toronto that educates and empowers primary care providers in medically underserved areas to better help their patients with mental health and addiction issues.
In this session we will discuss the degrees of success we’ve had in our emerging roles and share what we’ve learned about obtaining buy-in, building momentum, and evaluating impact.
Outcomes:
– Identify areas in which an embedded librarian could be useful.
– Obtain buy-in from key stakeholders.
– Develop an evaluation framework for impact on clinical practice and patient outcomes.
