The Internet has redefined how we access healthcare information. Patients and professionals alike are accessing information about their health online. This poses concerns for patrons. Propaganda, advertising, politics and more converge on the Internet in ways that manipulate and potentially endanger the health of our users. How can we help patrons protect themselves and their health when Googling information? In this session, we will use a critical lens to look at processes for obtaining health care information through online searching and healthcare. From developing more effective search strategies, to evaluating the reliability of information on health websites, we will reflect and discuss techniques and models that can help guide patrons to safe information.

Outcomes:
Learn effective tools and strategies for helping patrons access reliable health information online.
