Description:

With the rise of anxiety among students of all ages, school communities must change to reflect the needs of learners. The school library space is an ideal location to implement strategies to help reduce anxiety in students (and staff!). In this session, learn the story of how one high school library re-imagined their space to become a place of refuge for over-programmed, over-stimulated students. Find out how to use “unplugged fun”, digital tools, and physical space to create this environment in your library on any budget. Takeaways will include specific ideas and instructions to get started right away.

Outcomes:
– Learn the value and the efficacy of supporting student mental health through the school library program.
– See an example of a library that has done this, and take away concrete ideas to put this into practice on any budget right away.
