In the past three years, libraries across Canada and all over the world have been transforming MARC records into linked data in order to speak in a way the web can understand. By doing so, libraries can leverage the power of the web to help surface previously hidden content, resources and services. This session provides an update on how Ontario libraries are using linked data to make their resources visible on the web, via English and foreign language browsers and voice applications such as OK Google.
Leave this session with an understanding of a variety of approaches and collaborative research undertaken by libraries to make rich connections with new systems and users. Participants will also learn about what steps information professionals are taking to use BIBFRAME and a other linked data formats to reach users on the web.
